National Drink Wine Day

Did you know that today is National Drink Wine Day?

I didn’t know until someone brought it to my attention, thanks Sara!

This was such great news. We absolutely need a day like this. Of course, for me it’s just about every day. The last statistic I read was that only about 11% of the American public drinks wine on a regular basis. That’s not a lot. Up here in wine country I’ll bet it’s a little higher than that, but you’d be surprised. Just because folks live up here doesn’t mean they drink wine all the time. Or at all.

Of course, my job as a tasting room professional (okay, it’s not really a profession) is to get more people to drink wine, specifically fine wine, more often. Then to come back or call for replenishment! So, a day like today is great! I know it’s late, but if you don’t have a bottle open, open one now!

I’ll wait….

Maybe to some of you these kind of “days” are silly. And for the most part, I agree. There are some really strange ones like National Organize Your Home Office Day, National Lumpy Rug Day or National Wiggle Your Toes Day, huh?

But a day like today is very cool. Well, I think so anyway. More people should drink wine. Not just because it helps my business. But it’s relaxing, healthy and if you want can be very introspective. I’ve talked about all those things before, but it certainly seemed like a good day to bring them up again.

Most of you follow and read this blog because you’re interested in wine and probably drink it on a regular basis, but share this day with your friends. Even if it happens over this holiday weekend. Share your love of wine with other people. Maybe together we can raise that number a few percentage points.
